George and Lennie do everything together and never leave each other’s sides. Sometimes Lennie gets on George’s nerves because he’s hard to deal with, but George still sticks by Lennie’s side no matter what. Throughout this book George has affected Lennie in a positive way.
George wants Lennie to be happy no matter what. Even though Lennie screws things up like keeping a job for the both of them George still promises Lennie that they will save a lot of money to have their own place together. George really cares about him and he pushes Lennie to raise his spirits and to do the best he can. George is a great influence on Lennie.
When the times get rough George is still by Lennie’s side. They’re best friends and he can’t just leave him on the side of the road no matter how rough the times get. George tries to only point out the good in Lennie which makes Lennie happy. He tells Lennie that some day they will be rich and have their own farm with rabbits which is what Lennie really wants because he likes how soft they are.
Lennie does seem to suffer and sometimes George hates seeming him this way. Lennie never seems to be happy but George still tries to fulfill his dreams. It’s hard when he does that because George wants to fulfill his too and sometimes it gets frustrating. So one day when Lennie was extremely happy, George decided to end Lennie’s life. Some may think this is really wrong but George really felt it was the right thing to do. He’s guided Lennie so far in life and he’s still not happy. Lennie still doesn’t know what he’s doing with his life because he’s mentally challenged and all George wants if for him to be happy so he decided to end his life.
George was a great influence on Lennie and even though he shot him in the back he knows that Lennie is in a happier place than here. George has done everything he can to make Lennie happy and he knows that Lennie was truly happy when they were always together trying to pursue their dreams, but George knew his friend wasn’t living the life he really wanted.
